01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Matcha agar, sweet azuki bean paste, shiratama rice dumplings and warabi mochi come together in the matcha cream anmitsu, finished with matcha syrup. One diner remembered the contrast between the refreshing agar and the syrup. The same diner ordered iced matcha, served with a small piece of yōkan; its restrained sweetness paired well with the tea’s pleasantly gentle bitterness.

For a more substantial dessert, there is the Chacha Parfait or the hojicha parfait. The Chacha Parfait layers matcha agar, sweet azuki bean paste and shiratama with matcha and hojicha ice cream, hojicha black syrup and more. It is a good option for anyone who cannot choose between the two teas. The hojicha parfait combines hojicha agar and ice cream with kinako roasted soybean powder and warabi mochi.

Seasonal sweets include white peach shaved ice. One visitor said the generous topping of peach flesh and syrup kept the fruit’s flavour and aroma coming through to the last spoonful. White peach is listed as a limited-time offering, so check whether it is available before setting out.

There is a wide choice of teas to accompany the sweets, including green tea, hojicha and lemongrass hojicha. A diner who ordered green tea noted its sweetness in the first infusion and that a bowl of hot water was provided to cool for the second.

At lunchtime, the menu also offers a meal of onigiri rather than sweets alone. The listed set pairs two salted rice balls with side dishes, salad, a sweet and a choice of green tea or hojicha. Miso soup is included on weekdays until 14:00. One visitor praised the rice, seaweed and side dishes individually, making the set an option when you would like a meal before dessert.
